I have always had a real passion for antique silver and in particular jewellery, and now to be able to make something unique and personal for someone is such a fabulous feeling.
My career history is quite different as I come from a nursing background. It was only by chance that I took the jewellery path as a business. It all started when my daughter admired the idea of having a pendant made from her breast milk. This was so she could remember her breast-feeding journey with my granddaughter. At the time she was unable to find the exact piece of jewellery that she wanted for this, and then finding someone to complete the whole process, rather than just part of it was also problematic. I had heard of cremation ashes embedded into jewellery prior to this conversation but must admit I had not heard of breast milk jewellery.
It was then I decided to do some research and educate myself with the processes of memorial jewellery items. Taking into consideration safety equipment required, environmental considerations, sterile areas, colours, quality, preferences and individual styles. Then after many months of investigating, and working late around my nursing, did I finally feel confident to start making items. My daughter’s breastmilk pendant being the first of course! The success of making something so very personal is not only seeing the end distinguished product, but much more importantly for me is creating something that in essence is a little window of loving memories for someone.
I am committed that each piece of memory jewellery is not just an order., but a honour to complete. Compassion is required around the story behind the memory. Therefore respect, professionalism, care, love, attention and a friendly approach are vital ingredients, and I believe are essential to making such treasured items.
